2024 James Beard Awards

This morning The James Beard Foundation released its list of finalists for the 2024 James Beard Awards in the Restaurants and Chefs category. On the list, 115 of the nation’s top chefs, restaurants, and establishments are highlighted for their achievements in the culinary arts and hospitality sector. These finalists are recognized across 10 different categories and throughout the United States. In the wider 2024 James Beard Awards, individuals are also nominated for both their role in food Media and culinary Leadership.

James Beard was an American Chef who played an important role in shaping America’s food culture. Through his widely-viewed television show and numerous cookbooks, Beard played an influential role in introducing American home cooks to the joy of cooking meals with fresh and simple ingredients – he believed mass-produced food did not fall under the umbrella of fresh, local, or seasonal. It is with this philosophy in mind that the James Beard Foundation has continued to exist. Since 1990, the Foundation has aimed to “celebrate, support, and elevate the people behind America’s food culture.” Through nominating Chefs, Restaurants, and influential individuals in the culinary industry, amongst 22 different categories, the Foundation is able to amplify new voices and honor veterans in the culinary industry, awarding those helping to create a more equitable and sustainable future.
